Week 3 Post 2: Frequent Website Visits

Harveys
ShopHarveys.com

Harvey's in Southern California began in 1997. They have been able to stay fresh in the bag market by continuing their story through social media. The Harvey’s have created a very appealing and bold website. The page is very easy to navigate and very clear on where to click to get the information that is needed. The color themed sections visually direct you to the links. It is very appealing!

I return to shopharveys.com every Friday for their page refresh and purse release. Early in the week the company posts snapshots of the new product release. Through their Facebook fan page fans and collector talk, this builds interest and buzz with hundreds of collectors. The First Friday section becomes live at 8am on the dot for those quick to sell new bags. About ten years ago they gained Licensing in a successful collaboration with Disney. The Disney colaboration has now made this buying day even bigger. The Harvey’s have done a great job with marketing.

Products sell quickly upon release. To improve the site during sales I would maybe work on the sales platform. When items are put in your cart they should be guaranteed for 5 minutes or so. This is not done at this time. However, the company has a feature that will email when sold out product becomes available. The company also encourages people to shop at their Anaheim store so they don’t miss out. I look forward to visiting the store on a Friday release to see them in action with the customers!

San Diego Zoo
SanDiegoZoo.org

As an avid zoo lover, I visit the San Diego Zoo’s website frequently. The site is very easy to navigate and the links are easily accessible. The bright colors and current pictures draw you in. The live cameras, featured on the site, show you newly born babies in the zoo care. The site makes you feel that you are a part of the zoo.

As you first view sandiegozoo.org you view a rotation picture show of events, new animals and specials. The flow is pleasing to the eyes. They capture you as a customer from the first visit. The white text really jumps off the page. When you roll over the text, drop down fields pop up and choose where you would like to navigate. The drop downs clearly show where to view special zoo events. I return to see what current events they have going on, such as the Roar and Snore campout. The weekly updates keep me returning to the site.

The interactive Social Media pages show you daily activities and new happenings at the zoo. There is a direct link on the bottom of the page that takes you to Instagram or Facebook. The zoo responds to comments and questions very quickly. This direct customer touch is wonderful.
