Week 4 Post 1: Defining Your Target Market

Armstrong Garden Centers Armstrong Garden Centers website is very professionally put together. The homes featured on the page are fairly large with large yards. The website features services for customers with big yard projects. Their target audience seems to be homeowners. They feature rose classes monthly that would appeal towards retired adults. There is an email section at the bottom of the page for frequent customers to keep up with events at the local center. They feature their social media pages, but they are not very prominent. The design of the page is very appealing and easy to view. I would say that they are trying to appeal to an older middle class customer. Rancho Vista Nursery Rancho Vista Nursery has a very cute web page. They feature a picture of their large greenhouse and select plants that they grow. The nursery features a pick your own option to go through the greenhouse. The page and nursery are very basic and bare bones, which is appealing to a younger...

Week 3 Post 2: Frequent Website Visits

Harveys ShopHarveys.com Harvey's in Southern California began in 1997. They have been able to stay fresh in the bag market by continuing their story through social media. The Harvey’s have created a very appealing and bold website. The page is very easy to navigate and very clear on where to click to get the information that is needed. The color themed sections visually direct you to the links. It is very appealing! I return to shopharveys.com every Friday for their page refresh and purse release. Early in the week the company posts snapshots of the new product release. Through their Facebook fan page fans and collector talk, this builds interest and buzz with hundreds of collectors. The First Friday section becomes live at 8am on the dot for those quick to sell new bags. About ten years ago they gained Licensing in a successful collaboration with Disney. The Disney colaboration has now made this buying day even bigger. The Harvey’s have done a great job with marketing. ...

Week 3 Post 1: Aesthetics, Design and Branding

http://www.pennyjuice.com/ A professional website is always important to draw in customers who will order. The colors were a bit shocking on Penny Juice dot com. I would suggest a uniform array of colors appealing to owners of childcare facilities. Hiring a professional to set up the page with a flowing layout would help with new traffic and customers. Stock photos are a nice start for a page, but adding real customers drinking the juice would add a personal touch. One of the social media links featured take you to their Facebook page. On this page the profile picture is a little frightening. The picture is the Beetle Juice character from the feature film. As I love the movie, it does not match the company story. I would change the profile picture to the juice or children enjoying the juice. T he ease of the product should be advertised across all forms of media. There is an array of possibilities to promote Penny Juice with just pennies, if done right!   http:/...

Week 2 Post 2: Business Websites

Beach Terrace Inn beachterraceinn.com Beach Terrace Inn was established in 1960 as a local family owned and independent hotel. Originally this property was built as apartments and the units were renovated to utilize the beauty of the location. This 48 room hotel has direct beach access in the heart of downtown Carlsbad. On the bottom of their website they have Social Media icons that all are working links. The links include Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and YouTube. Tamarack Beach Resort tamarackresort.com Tamarack Beach Resort is a moderately sized hotel in Carlsbad Village. Opening in 1986, the hotel has transformed many times over the years. Today is has 23 hotel rooms and 54 condo units available to reserve for a stay. The Resort is independent and family owned. Visually on their website there are buttons for Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The Facebook button is not routing correctly. Legoland California Resort legoland.com/California/legoland-hotel In 199...

Week 2 Post 1: Blog Post

When purchasing a new car brand I looked forward to receiving great service as I had with past brands. My expectations were tarnished. They featured online appointment booking. An agent was to call and confirm my appointment. They never did this. I had tried calling and emailing directly to confirm, with no answer. While in my appointment they were to text when my car was ready. This did not happen. When a business promotes new features, they need to follow through. This experience left me upset enough to send my business elsewhere. Social Media has made it easy to communicate with replies essentially in real time. Tagging or posting a hashtag brings attention to the company you are talking about.   Most companies want to see if you are talking about them.   Social Media has made it as easy as communicating with a close friend or family in the same city. From small family run businesses to local companies they want to hear that you are either happy or dissatisfied with...

Week 1 Post 2: Introduction to Social Media

Many forms of social Media have evolved from their creation. The original intentions many have matured with their audience. Technology is amazing like that! Personal Social Media platforms like Snap Chat, TikTok and Instagram have us all on our cell phones and tablets checking out the newest buzz. We share our photos with ease to our friends, family and even strangers. Photos entice us to go on new adventures and be our best selves. Businesses look towards platforms like Linked in and Twitter to share articles and statements. We often see a business share a link or press release on accomplishments they have made. Industries have formed groups and you are able to list your company in your profile. Linked in forms a resume style format where your colleagues and businesses are able to view your past. These practices lend themselves to business culture. The Social Media network has grown and audiences have changed. Facebook is a great example of an app that is used across all...

Week 1 Post 1: My Template

As a hotel Concierge I love to explore and enjoy my surroundings. Not only are my adventures fun, but they also assist my on staying up with what is going on in our beautiful San Diego County! Sometimes I may only travel a few miles to hike a local trail, other times I hop on the train with my boyfriend for a day beer tasting at our abundant breweries. I love the color green as it brings the outdoors in. I wanted to bring this color to my blog naturally with a picture that I took while exploring San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas. It is a place that I like to go and enjoy the day. There are nooks and corners that you can sit on a bench and read a book and take in the space. The transparent post block on this template lets my readers feel like they are at the gardens as well. The reader may feel that it isn’t as structured as other pages they visit. I chose to have a bold font headline in orange to have it pop against the dark transparent page bock. I look forward to more p...
